Let’s get real. A wedding is more than just a party, more than the dress, the ring and the flowers. These are all easy to get wrapped up in but what it’s truly about? What really represents is the union of two people that are committing their lives to one another? The flowers, dress, ring and flowers, well, weddings happen without those things everyday.
Witnessing two people that are truly in love and truly committed to each say their vows and seal it with a kiss is an amazing feeling. Being able to join in the celebration with them after sharing that moment of bliss is fun. Yes, I’ll admit, I’ve been to a few weddings where I just knew the couple wasn’t right for each other and really the reception was the best part but those are few and the majority of the weddings I’ve attended have reminded me of what love is all about.
So, when I hear about weddings, such as Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odon, I have to wonder if it’s just about the party, publicity and personal gain (and maybe the gifts). Don’t get me wrong they could be madly in love and their wedding may be “real”. But in all honesty, to me it feels like a publicity stunt. The Kardashian’s reality show on E! is will be featuring the show finale tonight as well. Anyone remember the publicity over the pregnancy around the premiere of their show…..hmmmm, it seems to me that E! is trying to up the ratings for this Sunday night. Have ratings become more important than the sanctity of marriage?
She’s 25, he’s 29 and they’ve know each other for a few months. They confirmed their relationship on Sept. 4, yes only 23 days ago. I love my husband but not in a million years would I have ever married him after a month. I’m not discounting quick courtships, I have a few good friends that are happily married after only knowing each other for a few months, but the stats of the world are stacked against them, add on celebrity to their titles and they seem doomed. I’ll step off my soapbox and we’ll revisit next week, hopefully with some fabulous pictures, after all, how could a wedding thrown by E! not be amazing, and maybe we’ll even take some bets.
