I’ve known Ashley and Doug for many years and was so happy when I saw her facebook update from “in a relationship” to “engaged to Doug”, because it’s not real until it’s facebook official, right? Doug and Ashley are such a great couple, the kind of couple that are fun to be around and make you laugh with their stories.
When Ashley and her mom asked me to be the Day of Coordinator and to create her bouquets for her wedding, I was honored. It’s always a blessing to get to work on weddings of people you know. Ashley and Doug wanted a FUN wedding, something laid back, not stuffy and not anything that was complicated. From the get go when they told me BBQ at Wash Park and peacock feathers, I was on board.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding and Wash Park Studio was an amazing venue for their vision. If you haven’t seen this venue, I would highly recommend a visit. Amazing light, clean and simple lines and it’s just a little different from everywhere else. Ashley’s mom worked for hours creating the beautiful hanging flower backdrop for their ceremony and all of the centerpieces – it was all amazing! She also made more than 100 cupcakes in little tiny jars that the bridesmaids frosted the day of the wedding.
I had lots of designing the bouquets with peacock feathers and purple flowers. It’s always a treat to be given a little direction and some trust when designing. They were a little bit funky with some orchids, dahlias, anemones, purple alium and roses. With a short and sweet ceremony, appetizers and dinner from the Stueben’s Food Truck and a night capped off at the Kentucky Inn across the street, it was a wonderful day.
Ashley and Doug, coordinating your wedding was more fun than work and I wish you both the best life has to offer! Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your day!
